Tadoussac Youth Hostel has developed quite a few traditions over the years. Most of them involve gatherings where travelers and often villagers gather to celebrate a festive occasion. In case you haven't heard, Québec people have a strong reputation for feasting and partying! Also, if you visit Tadoussac in summer you'll find the Café du Fjord (next door) regularly presents singers, bands and even poets! Here are just some of our special occasions... but beware, you may be surprised at how much fun you can have here! |

Christmas December 24-25... Everyone participates in the decoration of Christmas trees, hockey games, carols in the village, a midnight gathering at the dunes, brunch feast, gifts exchange & of course a drink or few! Reservations are recommended for this period. New Year December 30-January 1... The most legendary New Year's you'll ever have! Experience the festive atmosphere with the Hostel full of people and a non-stop program of activities. It's much like Christmas, except bigger! Reservations are absolutely necessary at this time. |
Valentine's Day
February 14... Lovers' feast & homage to many Hostel weddings over the years.
Easter
March/April... Following in the tradition of Québec's pioneers we celebrate the season with a maple syrup party (Cabane à sucre) featuring folk dance, food and songs.

2nd weekend of June... A song festival of 4 days where new Québec bands and popular artists play their various styles of music in Tadoussac venues. Outdoor concerts are featured at the open and close of the festival. St.Jean-Baptiste (Québec) Day June 24... Provincial feast celebrating Québec identity & culture. A bonfire, fireworks & entertainment in Tadoussac village are part of the festivities during the evening. Canada National Day July 1... National celebration similar to the provincial day. |

Labour Day 1st monday of September... At the Hostel we commemorate this national holiday with a bonfire and folk songs. Halloween October 31... If you're here at this time, don't miss the most original pumpkin contest & fancy dress party. |
